      Macroeconomics is the branch of economics that studies the economy as a whole. Macroeconomics focuses on three things: National output, unemployment, and inflation. Macroeconomics is ‘non-experimental’: like, e.g., history, macro-economics cannot conduct controlled scienti fic experiments (people would complain about such experiments, and with a good reason) and focuses on pure observation. Because historical episodes allow diverse interpretations, many conclusions of macroeconomics are not coercive.

    Macroeconomics textbooks are economics textbooks that examine a global, national, or regional economy. Focusing on the big picture or the economy has a whole, macroeconomics textbooks examine the principles of economics and aggregated economic indicators such as gross domestic product, inflation, supply and demand, trade, and monetary systems.
